Rapper In My Mind...

I swear, I'm a rapper. In my head only. Ask anybody who knows me, anytime a Jay lyric flows thru a speaker, I'm up, rhyming, mannerisms, etc...haaaa...like the best that ever did it.

Well, a couple of days ago, I wrote one of my infamous raps that never gets heard. And for once, I let someone hear it.

Shocked, surprised, and slightly appalled, my Producer had no idea that I could come up with what I did. For the obvious reason that, I would never let anyone else hear it...:)

SIDENOTE: My Producer is FAR from an "ego-booster". He tells me my shit is crap when it is and, when I need to go even harder...

With that said, I gots me some courage, and another CREDIBLE ear, I think I'll actually record it!

Inspiration...

Its been a very fulfilling month musically. Although I can't say I have completed work, I can somehow say that I have new and better ideas. Pushing the vocal envelope, these stories, rhymes, cadences sound great in my mind and in a room with just me and my thoughts. The true test comes from letting others hear. With no fear. That's when inspiration truly enters.

Mind Madness...

On Wednesday, I performed at Mind Madness, a place where singers, poets, rappers and beyond can come and showcase their talent. It was located at Club Soda in Washington DC.

The crowd was small and engaged in the music. The vibe was amazing. Every single person that hit the stage was inspiring.

Shout out to RightMind215 for letting me be apart of such an amazing movement!

So Amazing...

Let me just start out by saying it's a beautiful day out!

It's so amazing to me, the talent that comes from people. The creativity from every artist I meet inspires me further.

Which leads me to worry: How can I possibly be as amazingly artistic? To walk beside others in this realm of music? To be categorized with the Epic... The only way is to create my music for me. My own lane, essentially.

Because me is all I can be. Unconditionally.

No room to be apprehensive, or fearful of what people think because, I 'm literally "doing me".

And it feels So Amazing.

"The World, Craig..."

My stage name is Morgan Monet. Subject to change, I'm leaning towards BFly. Its easier to remember and, I'm called that more than my real name.

I'm from Philadelphia. Product of the magnet school system. Product of the Arts. The culture of music is in me. Like, part of my DNA however, I decided to 'pursue' a degree in International Business in College...*crickets*

Now that I've mastered the art of pleasing my folks and, after being fired from a job I held for 4 years, I know that I'm ready to do what I want to do. I want my life's plan to be my own. So that I can either take the credit, or the fall...seems simple, right?

Wrong. I'm shaking in my boots!! *insert light laughter*

Seriously? A whole lot of people are afraid. They think job 'security' is the way to go. Now, I don't know if thy have stepped outside lately but, now more than ever, i see men and women with PhD's sleeping on the streets. If that's the definition of job security, Ill pass...

I'm thinking now, I might as well do what I've always wanted. Nothing occupying my time or energy. Nothing stressing me. My only worry is how to convey my thoughts into beautiful music for the entire world to hear.

Yes, I want the ENTIRE world to listen.

One of my new favorite quotes, thanks to my best friend comes from Friday After Next:

"The world, Craig..."

Everything...

So, in the past 2 days, Ive seen 2 blogs that have inspired me to say, "what the hell?, start your own, and make it about what you REALLY love!"

I promise to blog about music. I also promise to ramble about things that I'm passionate about outside of music. More than likely, I will bring it all back to music because...

Everything Is Music. To ME.
