Day 10...

Day 10…

We haven’t spoken in years. I mean, about some real shit, in YEARS. It’s very generic. I guess…I know it’s my fear of what you’ll think of me. You know, your facial expressions say what you mean the best. The assumption of disappointment or shock brings fear. Man, I wish I could tell you everything! Have a ‘sista-girl’ moment, you know what I mean?

*Sigh* However, there are a few things that prevent me from being forward with you. Although it would be easy for me to point the finger, I will say that the reason why I won’t is all because of me…

It's much easier to get thru this by blurting out what's next but I won't so, bear with me. Be patient with me. For once. Be understanding. Be listening without immediate judgement. Be able to know when to give a shit! And, be able to know the difference between jokes and the serious things- even if they are minuscule to you and your vastly diminishing bubble.

I write this with the sincerest respect. And Love.

I'm back to my 30 days of writing. Yes, this WILL get completed! Because it's been so long and most of my new readers aren't aware of the project, here is the link Why not give it a try yourself? The Truth...

The truth is, we killin' our kids.

Babies been having babies for a couple of years.

Street wars, gang violence and a couple of beers...

My job is gone

My money is too now, tell me Obama,

What am I gonna do?

And the Heartland. What I can't understand is,

How we let them take the fabric from our land...

The cars, the clothes, the technology.

But we still call America free.

Citizens labeled refugees,

After they built this country?

And,

It's okay to call her your maid when $2.00 an hour was all you had to pay...

Still sending kids, who have no idea, to a war created by fear.

And, we watch TV and all we see is,

Celebs in rehab and faces like me up on a t-shirt.

And a mama like mine with tears in her eyes 'cause a brother like mine who thought he had the time, to make it better here...

And I fear.

The end is near.

Her Love...

With arms outstretched, she reaches for me.

The warmest, most tender yet strongest embrace that anyone can ever experience.

And she shares it with us all. No one feels less-than in her presence.

No judgement, because she knows that God takes care of that.

Those hands that taught me to sew.

Taught us to rejoice in church pews.

Taught us all to put our palms together, every night, and pray...

The voice that chided my mischievous deeds.

The same voice I looked forward to speaking to, every Spring .

The same sweet voice that knew my name with her eyes closed, even in her last days...

She succeeded. God's plan is filled with love, and she gave it. She became a best friend to the most innocent and, that can never be forgotten.

Tracks...

Finished a track today! Although I was very excited, I had a little difficulty with the 'life' of the music.

Sometimes, you may try so hard to get the tempo and lyrics down, that you forget the emotion in a piece. It's okay! It happens.

My best suggestion is to remember where those lyrics came from. Remember when you wrote them down and what you were feeling like. Then lay that THANG down!! :)

Anyway, the track is called 'Summer' and, it will be on a new mixtape by Joseph Hallman! An extremely talented classical composer, teacher and performer. He's also from my hometown, PHILADELPHIA!! Check his site HERE.

Day 7...

Day 7 is to the Ex.

While it's easy to place blame for how my life is currently shaped, I won't. Because you're no longer apart of it...

However, I will say that the aftermath of 9 years has not been pleasant. I mean, damn! I've been alone, involved, happy, sad; and through all these stages in life, I've managed to blame myself completely. Clearly there were two people involved and clearly, both of those people had issues that we couldn't overlook.

As selfish as it may sound, I no longer care about you. That's my way of dealing. The disadvantage(s) of that mentality has adversely affected current relationships. By relationships, I mean intimate and otherwise. Relationships dealing with my family, friends and the significant other.

But I'm still not mad with you. I still can't wrap my logic around what others think should be the definition of blame. We're adults, and we must deal with life and the way it has come to be. I refuse to use our past as a crutch because all that matters is today and tomorrow.

Happy New Year...

After finally getting settled in, I figured out what my solid resolution will continuously be. Over the past couple of years, I have seen my own growth and have also attempted to prove it to others. No more. If the change is real, it will show.

I took a much need walk today. After being sick for almost two weeks, the sun on my face and the cold air hitting my skin was much needed. My 'sick days' definitely did not help with inspiration or work...

Which leads me to my resolution: to look in the mirror. Yea, easier said than done for me. Simply put- to attack myself with motivation before I can even imagine inspiring others. Sometimes, we need to put the fire under our own asses before we take the torch outside.

Let 2011 begin!
